JOOOL: What Changes for BENETEAU and Lagoon Yachts

Quiet nights at anchor, less generator use and electric manoeuvring: JOOOL addresses some very practical priorities for yacht owners. At the Cannes Yachting Festival on 10 September 2026, Groupe Beneteau and Groupe Fountaine Pajot confirmed it as their shared brand for yacht electrification solutions.

The project is backed by Elektra Marine, the equal-share joint venture announced by the two groups in April. Cannes marked the next stage of that partnership.

What JOOOL means for life aboard

The system brings together batteries, power conversion, distribution and management of onboard electrical loads. For an owner, the benefits are practical:

  • Quieter anchorages. Running lights, refrigeration and other equipment from batteries can reduce generator hours. How long this mode lasts depends on the installation and power consumption.
  • Electric manoeuvring. In the electric-propulsion configuration, immediate torque helps with close-quarters handling and marina approaches.
  • Coordinated energy management. One system manages power sources and flows; suitably equipped installations can also generate electricity while sailing.

Onboard energy is not the same as electric propulsion

OneBox Energy manages stored electricity while retaining conventional propulsion. OneBox Propulsion adds an electric drive and hydrogeneration: recovering energy from the propeller as the yacht moves under sail. A hybrid architecture can retain a combustion-powered backup energy source. The JOOOL name does not mean that every equipped yacht operates entirely without fuel.

What is confirmed for BENETEAU and Lagoon?

The official announcement illustrates a BENETEAU Oceanis 52 in JOOOL configuration. Lagoon is also part of the project roadmap, but this does not establish availability on every model, including Lagoon 47.

The Cannes release provides no Oceanis 52 JOOOL price, delivery schedule or detailed equipment specification. These need to be checked for an individual order, not inferred from generic component data.
